According to E! News, the Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has been signed up as the new face of luxury French fashion house Louis Vuitton.

If the rumours are to be believed, Jolie will appear in the latest Louis Vuitton campaign and will be paid near to $10 million for her trouble. It is believed that photographer Annie Leibovitz is also on board to shoot the actress, who previously featured in ads for another fashion label, St. John, in the latest Vuitton campaign. The ads will be released in the summer.

Former spokesmodels for the lucrative Louis Vuitton brand have included music heavyweights Madonna and Jennifer Lopez.

Whilst most tabloids focus on pictures of celebrities wearing too few clothes on the beach, the celebrity chef Nigella Lawson has caused somewhat of a sensation in a top-to-toe ensemble.

Nigella wore an extremely unusual black, full length outfit which covered everything but her hands, feet and face, its resemblance to the burka prompting some gossip columnists to dub it the ‘burkini’.

It was first speculated that Nigella was obeying the religious codes of dress in the country she was visited, until it was revealed that she was on Bondi Beach in Sydney. Others claimed that the voluptuous chef was protecting her delicate pale skin from the sun. However, a fashion journalist from the Telegraph summed it up by saying:

“I would rather get laughed at for wearing a tent, than open up the papers the next day to find a long-lens shot of my pasty backside.”

The iconic and often controversial British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has celebrated her 70th birthday this week.

After a career spanning nearly forty years, the flame-haired, punk-inspired designer is still going strong. Westwood’s empowering clothes – plus signature tartan pieces - are still as popular as ever, inspiring new trends and stirring up some much-needed controversy within the fashion industry.

Although we don’t yet have details of the extravagant way in which Dame Westwood celebrated her 70th birthday, her best friend Pamela Anderson has let slip in Vogue that she has bought the designer the unusual gift of a plot of Amazon rainforest.

The world’s most famous and prolific twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, have launched yet another fashion labels to add to their clothing empire.

The Olsen twins already have four fashion lines – Olsenboye, Elizabeth and James, TEXTILE Elizabeth and James and luxury line The Row. They have also put their names to around 27 other fashion lines or labels in the past.

Mary-Kate and Ashley’s latest venture is called StyleMint.com, and as usual for the twins, it’s a trend-setting concept. After taking a style questionnaire, customers can subscribe to the site and receive personal recommendations of Olsen-designed pieces to choose from. It’s affordable too, with prices starting at around $29.99.

It has just been announced that Rumer Willis, daughter of Hollywood stars Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, will be the new face of the Badgley Mischka Spring 2011 ad campaign.

The lucrative contract has previously been handed to Eva Longoria, Carrie Underwood, Brooke Shields and the Olsen twins in the past, but this will be a breakthough for 22-year-old modelling beginner Rumer, who is more used to acting roles than posing for the camera.

As part of the Badgley Mischka ad campaign, Rumer will be modelling everything from swimwear and footwear to glamorous eveningwear. Speaking of her new role, Rumer said:

“I was thrilled and honored to be chosen to represent the Badgley Mischka brand,”

In a recent feature, Time Magazine has compiled its Top 10 Fashion Statements of 2010. Can you guess who came out on top?

It was, of course, the queen of wacky fashion statements – Lady Gaga, with her controversial dress made entirely of meat. Gaga wore this creation, complete with meat-clad booties, to the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2010. It caused a scandal in the press the next day, as, of course, it was meant to.

Also topping Time Magazine’s list of 2010’s fashion statements were Gossip Girl wildchild Taylor Momsen with almost everything she has ever been pictured wearing, MIA with her graphic print burkha, and Venus Williams for her lingerie-inspired tennis ensemble.

According to the Pantone Color Institute – the single largest influence on colour trends in fashion – the official colour of 2011 is “honeysuckle”.

You may well be wondering what colour honeysuckle actually is, and Pantone are happy to oblige. It has been described as a reddish-pink shade, one which has connotations of energy and home (according to the executive director of Pantone).

Honeysuckle has already appeared this year, with many fashion fans catching a glimpse of it throughout New York Fashion Week, particularly in Badgley Mischka’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

So, look out for it on the high street, because honeysuckle’s going to be huge in 2011.

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has opened a pop-up fashion boutique, Pretty Green, in the heart of Manchester.

The store – located on Manchester’s King Street - features pieces from Gallagher’s Pretty Green label, which primarily mod-influenced and based on the singer’s own style. For what I believed is a pretty hefty pricetag, Oasis fans can visit the store and pick up a replica of Gallagher’s trademark parka.

As expensive (and some would say, overpriced) as it may be, the Pretty Green label has won Gallagher a number of celebrity fans and even awards. The singer even took home the prestigious Drapers Award for Best Menswear Brand this year, so it can’t be all bad.

Gossip Girl actress and trend-setter Blake Lively has been hotly tipped as the new face of Chanel, after she was spotted repeatedly cosying up to the fashion label’s creative director and designer Karl Lagerfeld at fashion shows.

Lively is known to be a Chanel fan, as she often wears Chanel gowns on the red carpet and on magazine covers. After she was seen on the front row of Chanel’s couture collection catwalk show in July, the rumours that Lively will appear in Chanel’s spring handbag campaign have gone into overdrive.

Some fashion insiders have even reported that she has shot the pictures for the campaign already.
